B/B. This question is for you.

So I logged into LJ today and what came up on my writer's block page? This question:

"Is there anything you always wanted to tell your partner, but were afraid to bring up out of fear of conflict or hurt feelings? Do you think you'll ever have the courage to confront the issue?"

We're all wondering the same thing, B/B. OK, maybe not the 'conflict or hurt feelings' bit so much. But still.

Bones fic- Family

November 19th, 2009 (09:46 pm)

I've had this sort of idea floating around in my head for a month or so now, and after watching Episodes 6 and 7 I had to get writing. Feedback is always appreciated.

Title: Family
Characters: Brennan, Booth, Booth/Brennan
Rating: PG
Disclaimer: Not mine, and not for profit.
Word Count: 1979
Summary: Because really, she knows why, just somehow knows, even if she can’t explain it. Temperance Brennan prides herself on her extensive knowledge, her ability to thoroughly explain the human skeletal structure to eager grad students, her constant search for truth and understanding. Yet this time, she simply longs to forget, to leave the nightmares in some place they can never be seen again, like burying the dead. When you’re dead, you’re dead. That’s it. You don’t come back.

"Oh please, just give me fields and trees..."

October 25th, 2009 (07:10 pm)

Came back yesterday from seeing Newton Faulkner in Cambridge on Friday night and what can I say he was AMAAAAAZING.
He did all my favourites and told funny stories and he's so BRITISH and ASDGSLDFHASLJKASF I had such a good time. He's even better live than he is on the CD.

If by any chance you are reading this and you don't know who he is (probably because you're American), go check him out on Youtube. Clever lyricist, great voice, very very talented with his guitar.

Oh and the support act (Lisa Mitchell) was great as well <3

Ahem.

On a side note, I also went to the Bronte Parsonage on a school trip on Thursday. Being a MAJOR Wuthering Heights fan (I've read it three times), I totally started geeking out when I found out about this trip (for pictorial evidence see fangirl!Brennan icon- I must have looked a lot like that). It was so interesting looking at the house the Brontes lived in and their possessions and seeing the Moors that inspired the novel. I've been to the Moors before two years ago but not to the actual place the Brontes lived, so it was a great experience.

On another side note: I've just started watching the X-Files after Bones fans everywhere keep mentioning it...I like it so far :)

Oh yeah and one more thing. I'm kind of sick but not really. Maybe it's just left over tiredness from concert and travelling and end of the busy half term, but I have a bit of a headache, sore throat and cough. Blegh.

Oh my. First Bones fic. Yep, you guys, if I bit my nails when I was nervous I would be chewing skin by now. But this week's ep (I'm talking in American terms here, the UK is only on Bond in the Boot) was so amazing I had to write something. And though I don't dare to hope this will be anything like as good as some of the wonderful Bones writers, I had a go anyway.

So, post ep for 5x05 Night at the Bones Museum.

Title: The Natural Order of Things
Author: bringmetolife
Rating: PG
Spoilers: General, especially 5x05
Summary: His answering smile is so warm, she feels some of the tension between them melt, just as her heart seems to expand until it is too big for her ribcage. This is scientifically impossible, of course, but she pushes that thought away. Tonight, she just wants to be Bones.

And this is why Twilight fails.

September 4th, 2009 (07:28 pm)

OK. I had to do this. I know everyone loves Twilight and if you do and you are reading this, please do not take offence. But I for one am sick of it and would like to explain my dislike for it in very eloquent terms.

I will now proceed.

This is Isabella Swan.

First off let me tell you that Isabella Swan sounds very much like Elizabeth Swann. In fact, Isabella is the Spanish term for Elizabeth. This bothers me. Elizabeth Swann is awesome and kicks ass. Bella is....well, let's go with pathetic for now.

Bella's main personality traits are:

Clumsy.
Moody.
Low self esteem.
And who can forget this one: she loves her boyfriend so much, she became extremely depressed when he took off to Italy or wherever he went.

Sounds like your everyday teenage girl, no?

WRONG.

I'll tell you why you're wrong. Because no normal girl finds out that a vampire has been watching them sleep every night, and decides that it doesn't bother her.

Bella Swan is the reason that feminists all over the world have been up in arms.

People of the world, listen up. BELLA SWAN IS NOT A GOOD ROLE MODEL FOR YOU. WHAT'S WRONG WITH SCARLETT O' HARA, JANE EYRE, ELIZABETH BENNET?

Ok. You get the point. And if you thought Bella cheesed me off, you ain't seen nothin' yet.

This is Edward.

Does no-one else think he looks retarded in this pic? I try very hard to not make insulting comments about other people's appearances, but RPatz in the pic just makes me LOL. Edward in the book is supposed to be so beautiful that the sun pales in comparison to his dazzling sparkliness.

Oh yeah. About that.

As Dr. Brennan might say
Elephants  Vampires are not purple  do not sparkle. This is wrong.

Srsly.

Edward is also too perfect. I mean, it's not enough for him to be the most beautiful man on the planet. He also has to know everything about everything, play and compose on the piano like Mozart, and have super speed and strength. I fail to see how a perfect character like Edward could like a miserable sod like Bella. Also, perfect characters are boring. The point of a story is that you follow the character's journey, identify with their faults and root for them to come through their struggle. Sure, Edward struggles with not eating Bella, but apart from that there is no character development. Same can be said for Bella.

But the main reason I dislike Eddy is because he is so patronizing. I mean, "Bella, love."

BOOTH. SAYS. NO.

So to sum it all up, Twilight fails because both the characters are not likeable (at least not for me) and when you put two characters who fail as epically as these two together...yeah you get the point. Of course, the rabid fangirls and bad fanfic!Renesmee doesn't help. OK. I'm sorry if I have majorly peed somebody off. But I had to get it off my chest.
